Sources say that Lazard will hire McCabe, formerly of JPMorgan, to lead North American energy investment banking.
Two people familiar with the matter said that Lazard will be hiring 'Brian McCabe' from JPMorgan Chase & Co to head its energy practice in america.
McCabe, an oil and gas veteran who specializes in mergers and acquisitions of pipeline companies and midstream companies, has resigned his position as a senior executive at JPMorgan, according to sources.
McCabe, a Houston-based investment banker, will take over as the head of North America's energy investment banking in the upcoming months after a gardening leave. The sources said that he will report to George Bilicic who is Lazard's global director of power, infrastructure and energy.
JPMorgan declined to comment. Lazard has hired McCabe as the latest member of its Power, Energy and Infrastructure group. The firm is seeking to strengthen its capabilities in a period of increased interest in this space. The boom in energy-hungry technology supporting artificial intelligence and the increased exporting of American oil and gas are among the factors?boosting deal flows. Lazard announced last week that it had hired former Western Midstream Partners CEO Michael Ure to be a senior advisor in its 'energy division.
McCabe returns to Lazard after working at the bank from 2004 to 2007, according to a website for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. He joined JPMorgan from Credit Suisse in 2021, and has worked for Morgan Stanley over a 30-year career. (Reporting and editing by David French, New York)
