Sources: Rodriguez will lead a Venezuelan delegation to the US to discuss energy and debt.

Two sources familiar with the preparations say that a Venezuelan delegation headed by interim president?Delcy Rod will be attending the United Nations General Assembly in New York this week. The delegation plans to discuss energy, mining and debt issues with counterparts in the US.

According to sources, the talks will lead to agreements being signed as part of US president Donald Trump's plan to rebuild South America's key industries.

Rodriguez and her team arrived in New York on Monday morning. Her first visit to the US was after she took office as Venezuela's Interim President in January, under Washington's supervision, following the capture of then-President Nicolas Maduro.

Venezuela's state television reported that John Barrett, the top US diplomat in Venezuela received her at airport.

Negotiations between Venezuelan officials and ministers have advanced for months in preparation for Rodriguez's visit to New York. She is scheduled to meet Trump there on Tuesday. According to the agenda of his office, Rodriguez had a meeting scheduled with UN Secretary-General?Antonio Guterres on Monday.

Mike Waltz, US Ambassador to the United Nations during a recent briefing, revealed that the?planned meeting' between Trump and Rodriguez, who was Venezuelan vice president under Maduro, will take place at a reception hosted the US President. Venezuela's Foreign Affairs and Information Ministries did not respond to comments immediately.
