Sparrows Wins BP Contract in Angola

BP has awarded Sparrows Group a three-year contract to manage crane operations and maintenance, and deck services off the coast of Angola. The contract covers four cranes utilized on two Floating Production Offloading and Storage (FPSO) vessels, the Greater Plutonio and the PSVM, located in Blocks 18 and 31 respectively, which are situated 160km north-west of Angola’s capital Luanda.

Sparrows Group Secures Contract with Total in Angola

Stena Drilling Extends Inspection Contract with Sparrows

Sparrows Group has been awarded a three-and-a-half-year extension to its inspection services contract for Stena Drilling’s global fleet of drilling vessels. The contract scope includes carrying out LOLER lifting gear surveys, potential dropped objects surveys, cargo carrying unit (CCU) and non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections as well as rig specific maintenance.

Sparrows Group has been awarded a contract to fully refurbish two offshore cranes for Centrica in the East Irish Sea. The 27-year-old cranes are sited on the Morecambe field’s DP6 and DP8 platforms off the coast of Lancashire and Cumbria. Centrica announced it is set to invest up to £60 million to completely refurbish both platforms and boost overall production at Morecambe Bay.

103 Cranes Ordered for East Anglia ONE Wind Farm

Aberdeen-based Sparrows Group said it has signed a contract to supply 103 cranes for installation at ScottishPower Renewables’ 714 megawatt East Anglia ONE offshore wind farm. Located off the coast of Suffolk, the wind farm will be capable of producing enough electricity to power around 500,000 homes and is anticipated to generate first power in 2019 and be fully-operational by 2020.

Sparrows Group Retains BP North Sea Contract

Sparrows Group has successfully retained its current North Sea Mechanical Handling and Crane Management contract with BP, which will extend the working partnership between the two companies to over 50 years. The contract sees the lifting and mechanical handling specialist operating and maintaining all 21 of BP’s pedestal cranes in the North Sea across eight assets.

Sparrows Group has expanded its reach in the Middle East after forming a local partnership with Zamil Group in Saudi Arabia. The strategic alliance will see Sparrows Group’s full range of services being offered through the Zamil Group. The firm already has Middle East bases in Abu Dhabi and Al Khor (Qatar) and recently opened new regional headquarters in Dubai.
