Sara Aagesen, the Energy Minister of Spain, said that Spain would "actively" participate in any potential plan by the European Union to share jet-fuel stocks. She also stated that joint purchases are an option for Spain at this time.

The U.S. and Israel's war against Iran, as well as Tehran's retaliation, have triggered a crisis in the supply chain. European airlines are calling for the?EU? to take emergency measures to deal with growing concerns about?jet fuel shortages.

"Spain's commitment to solidarity and cooperation has been demonstrated for many years. Aagesen stated that they would review the proposal and participate "actively".

Aagesen stated that a joint "purchasing platform" would increase purchasing power, and allow countries to provide more affordable prices. She said she expects the European Commission will consider this option.

She said that Spain, with its refineries and its supplies primarily coming from North Africa and the Americas, was better positioned to weather an supply crisis than other European countries.

She said that Spain's refiners had increased their?output up to 60% from normal levels in some facilities. This has allowed Spain to prepare for the busy summer season by having a maximum amount of kerosene on hand.

She said that Spain and other countries were waiting for the European Commission to respond to a letter calling for a tax on windfall profits of energy companies. (Reporting and editing by Pietro, Charlie Devereux, Joe Bavier and Andrei Khalip)
