Sources say that Rosneft’s Kuibyshev refinery stopped processing on 10 June after a drone attack.
Two industry sources have confirmed that Rosneft, a Russian oil producer, halted oil processing at its Kuibyshev refinery on June 10, following a drone attack.
After the strike, which caused damage and fires at the plant, oil?processing at both primary crude distillation units -- CDU-4 & CDU-5, each with a capacity of approximately 10,000 metric tonnes (73,000 barrels per day) -- was halted.
Rosneft didn't immediately respond to a comment request.
Kyiv has intensified its attacks on Russian energy facilities over the past few months, as talks to end Ukraine's war have failed to make any progress.
The regional governor of Russia's Samara region said that a drone attacked the region in the early morning hours of Wednesday.
The Kuibyshev Refinery is a part of Rosneft’s Samara refinery hub, which includes the Novokuibyshevsk & Syzran plants.
According to sources in the market, Syzran's refinery has been off-line since May 21, after drone attacks damaged equipment. It still hasn't resumed normal operations.
Novokuibyshevsk's?refinery stopped operations on 18 April following a drone strike. It is now?running with reduced throughput.
According to industry sources, the Kuibyshev Refinery will 'process 4.7 million tonnes of crude oil in 2024 or 94.400 barrels per day. It will produce 0.8 million tons?of gasoline and 1.4 million?tons?of diesel, as well as 1.3 millions tons?of fuel oil. (Reporting and Editing by Emelia Matarise and Jan Harvey).
