Iran will restore 95 mcm/day gas production by the end of September

The oil ministry announced a Tuesday that Iran would restore 95 mcm per day in 'gas production capacity, as it repairs the energy infrastructure damaged by the war against Israel and the United States.

A senior government official stated in July that Iran would be able to regain about 100 mcm of daily natural gas production "within a few months" after the strikes had reduced output by 230 mcm/day since the war began late February.

The ministry's official news outlet quoted Oil Minister Mohsen Pknejad as saying that 95 mcm/day of lost capacity will be restored following damage to Assaluyeh gas-processing plants.

He said that the impact of this had been largely offset by using spare capacities at other gas processing plants.

Paknejad stated that the reconstruction of four damaged 'gas-processing' plants is progressing rapidly. Debris had been removed, reconstruction systems were in place, and contractors began work.

He said that the rebuilding was expected to be completed ahead of schedule. This would allow the full capacity lost to return to the production system.

Paknejad stated that some of the restored capacity will still be unavailable in the winter. This means Iran must manage its gas supply and consumption to meet demand. Reporting by Dubai Newsrooml Editors Michael Georgy and Mark Potter
