Tidal Power Firm gets Funding from Scottish Gov't

Tidal energy developer MeyGen Ltd has been awarded a £1.545 million grant from the Scottish Government's Saltire Tidal Energy Challenge Fund.The proceeds will be used to develop a subsea tidal turbine connection hub for the next phase of development of the MeyGen tidal power array, the world's largest tidal stream power project, SIMEC Atlantis Energy, the parent company of MeyGen Ltd.

Roxtec Bags $1.7 Bln Rampion Wind Farm Deal

International cable seal manufacturer Roxtec has delivered a sealing solution to support a new £1.3 billion ($1.7 billion) offshore wind farm in the English Channel. Roxtec designed and supplied all cable seals involved in the Rampion Offshore wind farm, located 13km off the coast of Sussex. In April, the topside for the Rampion substation departed Rosyth for the project site and the first of 116 wind turbines began to be installed.

Bear Head Secures Governor in Council Approval

Bear Head LNG Corporation, Inc. (Bear Head LNG) received Governor in Council approval for a licence to import natural gas from the United States and a licence to export liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Bear Head LNG’s project site on the Strait of Canso in Richmond County, Nova Scotia. The National Energy Board’s approval to import and export natural gas was previously issued in August 2015, but was subject to the approval of the Governor in Council.

Statoil Evacuates Nonessential Staff at Alberta Oil Sands Site

Statoil said on Tuesday it has evacuated about 110 non-essential staff from its 20,000 barrel per day Leismer oil sands project in northern Alberta as wildfires burn near the site but production is unaffected, a spokeswoman said. The company said an uncontrolled fire is burning 15 kilometers (9 miles) north of the project site but it does not threaten the facility. About 75 staff remain at the site.

MEG Latest to Shut Oil Sands Project on Alberta Fire Threat

MEG Energy Inc  said on Tuesday it was suspending operations at its 80,000 barrel per day Christina Lake oil sands project and evacuated non-essential staff as wildfires rage through northeastern Alberta.
