DEME Names Moray East Jacket Suppliers

DEME Offshore has selected tier one suppliers to supply jackets for the foundations of Moray Offshore Windfarm East (MOWEL),  located in the Outer Moray Firth, 22km off the coast of Scotland.According to DEME,  formerly GeoSea, Smulders will carry out a major part of the fabrication works on 55 of 100 jackets in Newcastle, including all final assembly, with Lamprell producing the remaining 45.The balance of the jackets will be supplied by Dubai-based Rig Metals LLC (part of the Lamprell Group) and then shipped and offloaded to northern Scottish ports.

Lamprell announced that it has been selected by GeoSea Procurement & Shipping Luxembourg SA, a wholly owned subsidiairy of GeoSea NV, the lead engineering, procurement, construction and installation contractor on the Moray East offshore wind farm, to fabricate jacket foundations for the project.Lamprell, the provider of fabrication, engineering and contracting services to the offshore energy industry, said it will fabricate 45 out of approximately 100 jacket foundations required for the wind farm…

Jack-up Vessel Seafox 5 Departs DVR

The 151-meter, self-propelled, DP2 jack-up rig Seafox 5 has left the Damen Verolme Rotterdam (DVR) shipyard following a four-month refit in which the boom of its main crane was lengthened to prepare it for a new contract, along with a range of maintenance and other upgrade works. Seafox 5 is now equipped to undertake offshore wind projects involving the next generation of larger wind turbines in water depths of up to 65 meters. C-Job to Provide Basic Design for DEME’s Orion

Having recently supplied the concept design for DEME Group’s new offshore installation vessel Orion, C-Job Naval Architects said it will now provide COSCO OFFSHORE CO. Ltd (Qidong) with the vessel’s basic design package. Orion will be built at COSCO SHIPPING HEAVY INDUSTRY in China for delivery in 2019. The technical specs of the vessel, to be operated by DEME subsidiary GeoSea, will service offshore wind installation, oil and gas and decommissioning activities.

New Offshore Installation Vessel for GeoSea

COSCO will build a new offshore installation vessel in China for DEME subsidiary GeoSea, to be used for offshore wind farm construction, oil and gas industry services and decommissioning work. The vessel, Orion, is due to be delivered in 2019. With a total installed capacity of 44,180kW Orion will be equipped with a high-tech crane with lifting capacity of 3,000t at more than 50m. The loads can be lifted to an unrivalled height of more than 170m. Deck space has been maximized to provide exceptionally high transport and load capacity.

First Monopile Loaded at Sif’s Maasvlakte 2 Location

Sif loaded its first monopile on board a seagoing vessel. The ship in question is the Innovation, a heavy-lift jack-up vessel owned by Geosea, part of the Belgian DEME Group. It was also the first job handled at the new section of Maasvlakte 2’s deep-sea quay (port number 8317). Monopiles are used for the foundations of offshore wind turbines. New Offshore Wind Project Launched in China

The Belgian dredging, environmental and marine engineering group DEME and China COSCO Shipping – the largest shipping company in the world – have formed a joint venture to develop offshore wind energy in China. The cooperation is in line with the Chinese climate vision and its aim to develop renewable energy, both of which were recently incorporated in the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020) for social and economic development. The Chinese government wishes to increase the installed capacity of offshore wind energy significantly by 2020.

Heavy Hitter: Meet the Hydrohammer S-4000

IHC IQIP has launched its new S-4000 Hydrohammer pile-driving system. The Royal IHC business unit’s latest development in hydraulic impact hammers is the largest available on the market, and enables the installation of offshore foundations in even the toughest ground conditions with the largest type of monopile. It‘s also suitable for applications in the oil and gas industry. As offshore wind farms are predicted to move further offshore into deeper waters, the demand for larger monopiles and, subsequently, larger hammers is also expected to increase.

Nordsee One Wind Farm Construction Kicks Off

DEME Group’s offshore marine engineering company GeoSea announced the start of the construction works for the offshore wind farm Nordsee One in the German North Sea. The Nordsee One offshore wind farm (85 percent Northland Power – 15 percent RWE) is situated approximately 40 kilometers north of the island of Juist and consists of 54 wind turbines which will be installed in water depths ranging between 25 and 29 meters. GeoSea’s T&I contract includes the installation of all monopile foundations and transition pieces.
