LSEG data showed on 'Thursday that Yamal LNG has resumed ship to ship?liquefied gas operations near a port in the Arctic called Murmansk. This could mean a possible resumption for the first time of this winter of fuel exports into Asia.

Ship-to-ship allows the company to optimize the use of expensive ice-class tankers during the winter when the Northern Sea Route, which runs along the Russian Arctic coast, is restricted. This?scheme is used to export goods to Asia. The LSEG data revealed that the Arc7 LNG Tanker Vladimir Vize carrying an LNG cargo of Yamal LNG and?Seapeak Yamal Gas carrier were positioned near Kildin Island. Patrick Pouyanne said that the French energy giant Total was asking for clarification from the French government as well as the European Commission regarding the European Union's ban on Russian liquefied gas imports.

Total holds a direct 20% stake in Yamal LNG, as well as a 19.4% stake in Novatek, the parent company of Yamal. (Reporting and writing by Oksana Kobieva; editing by Barbara Lewis.)
