Chinese national rescued 10 days after flash flooding from Nepal tunnel

Authorities said that a Chinese national was rescued 'alive' from a Nepalese tunnel on Saturday. This happened 10 days after a wall of rock, ice and mud ripped through a Himalayan Valley, killing over 1,300 people. Over 5,600 are still missing.

The Nepali Army said that the individual, identified only as Luhaitao was rescued by a team of rescuers from a 225 metre tunnel (246 yard) at 'the Upper Trishuli-1 hydropower project.

Rescue workers pulled two people from another tunnel on Friday at the Upper Trishuli 3A?Hydropower?Station along the same river.

Rescue workers believe that the collapse of an iceberg on August 26 in the upper reaches the river has trapped at least 900 people inside tunnels connected to six hydropower plants.

The Nepali Army shared footage of Luhaitao receiving 'emergency medical attention' inside a helicopter that took him to a?hospital.

He looked exhausted and disoriented with mud and dust all over his clothing and skin. A uniformed medic was seen with a stethoscope checking his vitals.
