Argent LNG, Albania to Evaluate Development of Import Terminal

U.S. LNG developer Argent LNG said on Wednesday it had signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Albania's government to evaluate development of an onshore LNG storage and regasification terminal with capacity of up to 5 million tonnes a year.

• Terminal could connect with the Trans Adriatic Pipeline, proposed Ionian Adriatic Pipeline and Fier-Vlore gas corridor.

• Argent LNG said financing could involve the U.S. Trade and Development Agency, U.S. International Development Finance Corporation and U.S. Export-Import Bank.

• The proposed terminal would be designed to supply markets in the Western Balkans and southeastern Europe and could support Ukraine through regional gas-market arrangements, Argent LNG said.

• The company gave no cost estimate, proposed site or construction timetable for the Albanian facility.

• The agreement builds on Argent LNG's previously announced memoranda of understanding with Naftogaz Group of Ukraine, signed in July 2026, and Transgaz of Romania, signed in August.

• In July, the U.S. Department of Energy authorized Argent LNG to export LNG from its proposed Port Fourchon, Louisiana, terminal to countries that have free-trade agreements with the United States.
