US Antimony Corp. wins Pentagon contract worth $245 Million to build Defense Stockpile
United States Antimony Corporation announced on Tuesday that it had secured a five-year contract with the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency for antimony metal ingots to be used as part of the stockpile. The contract is worth up to $245,000,000.
The new contract is part of a larger effort by the Trump administration to strengthen U.S. supply chain for strategic materials in light of rising geopolitical tensions, and a growing dependence on sources abroad, especially China.
Donald Trump, in the name of national security and economic autonomy, has taken a number of executive and policies actions to secure U.S. Access to Critical Minerals.
Defense officials have identified antimony, which is used in munitions and batteries, as well as flame retardants and military grade compounds, among other things, as a potential vulnerability within the U.S. industry base.
In a press release, USAC CEO Gary C. Evans stated that it was "incredibly meaningful" for all of USAC's employees to be able to play a role so strategic in enhancing the nation's readiness in defense.
The company, USAC, operates North America's two only antimony smelters. It is ready to start fulfilling orders immediately from its domestic facilities.
The contract is the result of months of negotiations, and it builds on an increasing partnership between USAC (the United States Air Force) and the Department of Defense which accelerated at the end of 2024.
