Venture Global talks about settling arbitration cases with Energy Companies

March 24, 2026

Venture Global has begun discussions with energy companies to settle pending arbitration claims against the company for failing to provide?LNG? from its Calcasieu Pass facilities in a timely fashion, said CEO Mike Sabel on Monday at a roundtable session during the CERAWeek Conference in Houston.

Venture Global customers such as Shell, BP, Repsol, orlen & Edison filed arbitration claims in 2023, accusing Venture Global of failing to supply them with LNG more than two years after it produced the super-cooled gas.

BP has won against Venture Global and the LNG exporter against Shell and Repsol. The other cases are still pending.

Sabel stated that while Venture Global has won two arbitration cases and lost another, they are open to settling any remaining arbitration cases.

Venture Global is expecting to produce LNG at its CP2 plant at 150% of 'the 20 million metric ton per annum capacity nameplate,' he said. He added that the company wants to buy'more LNG cargoes under five-year contracts, while the plant is being commissioned.

Sabel stated that the?company's proposed expansions of its Plaquemines CP2 and CP2 plants could add 40 million mtpa LNG.

Sabel stated that, "despite the fact that the U.S. Department of Energy has granted the company permission to increase its LNG exports," he doesn't expect "anything more than the production already planned for the remainder of the year." Curtis Williams reported from Houston, and Nathan Crooks edited the story.
