Two people are rescued from Nepal Hydropower Tunnel

Two people were rescued alive from a tunnel that was linked to a hydropower station on the Trishuli River, nine days after an ice, rock, and mud slide in Nepal killed more than 1,200 and forced tens and thousands of people to flee their homes.

In a press release, the office of Energy Minister Biraj Bhakta shrestha said that the?two workers who were pulled from the Upper Trishuli 3A Hydropower Station tunnel are Sanjay?Sah, a Mechanical Foreman and Kabir Maharjan a Mechanical Supervisor.

Rescue workers and officials believe that the 'collapse' of a glacier in the upper reaches on the Trishuli River on August 26 trapped at least 910 people in tunnels connected to six hydropower plants along the river.

An aide to energy minister told that Sah's injuries were not serious, but Maharjan can't move his hands or legs.

He said that the two were being taken to a hospital in Kathmandu.

Amir Maharjan said that he had not received official news but was told to go to hospital.

"I've been hearing from the news that my brother was found." Amir told Amir that the entire family was very happy.
