Turkmenistan produced 39.1 Billion Cubic Meters of Gas in the first half
Turkmenistan has produced 39.1 billion cubic metres of natural gas in the first half of 2026. This is up from 38.9 billion cubic metres for the same period last year, according to Altyn Asyr, a state-run TV channel, which cited government data. Turkmenistan, the country with the fourth largest natural gas reserves in world, is selling a lot of gas to China, its main customer since nearly 20 years.
Also, it sells smaller quantities to Uzbekistan.
Production is expected to be lower for the entire year. Maksat Baibayev, the head of Turkmengaz (the state-owned gas firm), said in April that the country planned to?produce approximately 76 billion cubic meters of gas.
Turkmenistan will produce?76.5 trillion cubic metres of natural gas in 2025, as opposed to?77.6 trillion cubic metres produced in 2024. Turkmenistan is also producing less oil. Altyn Asyr reports that oil production in the first six months of 2026 reached a record?4.129 metric tons, up from?4.091 metric tons a year ago.
