TotalEnergies reports damage to SATORP refinery after incidents

April 10, 2026

TotalEnergies, a French oil company, said on Friday that one of the SATORP refinery's processing train in Saudi Arabia was damaged by incidents that occurred during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. The incident prompted TotalEnergies to shut the units down as a precaution.

Saudi Arabia's oil capacity has been reduced by 600,000 barrels a day due to?attacks against energy facilities. Saudi Press Agency reported Thursday, citing a source at the energy ministry that the throughput along the East-West Pipeline has dropped by 700,000 barrels per day. According to reports, the pipeline was attacked by Iran just hours after the ceasefire agreement with the U.S., Israel, and the U.S.A. was reached. It is currently the only Saudi oil export route.

SATORP's site in Jubail, a city located in eastern Saudi Arabia, processes 465,000 barrels of crude oil per day. This makes it one of the largest refinery platforms on the planet. Saudi state oil giant Aramco holds a 62.5% stake in SATORP while TotalEnergies has a 37.5% share.

TotalEnergies stated that it was 'conducting an assessment of the effects on the refinery operations' and no casualties were reported. Reporting by Gianluca Nostro and Zakarya Melliani, Editing by Milla Nissi Prussak
