The French spot price drops due to a slight increase in wind

The French spot electricity price for Thursday dropped as the wind energy supply is expected?to rise from Wednesday's low level.

By 0936 GMT, the French baseload for day-ahead fell by 5.7% to 119.75 Euros ($143.45).

On Wednesday, the German baseload?day-ahead was untraded at 137.75 Euros/MWh. This is up from 134.20 euros on Tuesday.

LSEG analyst Naser Haseemi said that the German spot price will be closely correlated with Denmark, the Netherlands and southern Sweden, as well as lower wind and solar output, on Friday.

LSEG data indicated that German wind generation would fall?to?2 GW to?22 GW on Friday, while French power was expected to rise 2.8?GW up to 6.2 GW.

The French nuclear capacity remained unchanged at 88%.

LSEG data shows that the power demand in Germany fell by 370 megawatts to 67.7 GW while French consumption increased by 1.1 GW at 68.4 GW.

The German baseload for the year ahead fell by 0.4%, to 85.32 Euros/MWh. The French baseload for 2027?was not traded with a range of bid-ask between 49.45 euros/MWh and 49.75euros/MWh.

The European Union has admitted that German utility Uniper can't meet one of the main conditions for approval of a 13.5 billion euro bailout. According to the CEO, Unipro's Russian division is currently unsellable.

Benchmark - European carbon permits fell 0.4% to 88.02 Euros a metric ton.

Analysts at Engie EnergyScan say that carbon prices are fluctuating around 88 euro per metric ton. This is in line with the range set in late December, as traders hesitate to enter positions because geopolitical tensions surrounding Iran remain in the background.
