A source with knowledge of the situation said on Tuesday that the first production train is only running at half capacity at Russia's Arctic LNG 2 facility, which is under U.S. sanction due to Moscow's conflict in Ukraine. Meanwhile, its second production train is experiencing production problems.

Source: The first train runs at 55% of its production capacity while the second is plagued by serious electrical problems and cannot load any cargoes.

Arctic LNG 2 also aims to load 30 cargoes before the end of the year, based upon production from the first train at the plant, said the source.

The Russian energy company Novatek, which holds 60% of Arctic LNG 2 did not respond immediately to a comment request.

Last week, China received a cargo of LNG from the project. This is the first time since the project began last year that LNG has been delivered to a final user.

According to data from ship tracking, Arctic LNG 2 has already loaded six cargoes this year. Five of the five cargoes are currently being transported east by tankers, some of which are in Russia's east and others near Japan.
