FT reports that Trump administration cites national safety to halt US Wind Farm Projects
The Financial Times reported on Sunday that President Donald Trump’s administration had halted U.S. Onshore Wind Development, citing national security concerns.
The Pentagon is holding up approvals for about 165 projects that are on private land. This was reported by FT, citing American Clean Power Association officials and others who were close to the matter.
According to the FT, some of the projects affected include wind farms that are awaiting final'sign-off', others that are in the middle or negotiations, and still others that would not normally require Pentagon oversight.

The American Clean Power Association (ACPA) and Pentagon did not respond immediately to requests for comments by.
The FT reported that since August 2025 wind developers have experienced a variety of setbacks. These include a lack communication from the Pentagon and canceled meetings without the opportunity to reschedule. They also received the message that applications were no longer being considered.
According to the newspaper, letters sent in April told developers that the Pentagon was reviewing its processes for evaluating energy projects' impact on national security.
Trump's administration was sued in the past for halting wind projects because it cited classified national security risks from radar interference. Trump has repeatedly 'disrupted' wind?developers, who say that turbines are ugly and expensive.
