Overnight air strike by Russia on Ukraine's energy infrastructure

Ukraine's Energy Ministry said that Russia launched an overnight drone and missile attack on several Ukrainian areas, with a primary focus on energy infrastructure.

The attack involved 381 drones, 35 missiles and facilities in eastern Kharkiv and central Ukraine's Poltava Region where the main gas production facilities of the country are located.

The authorities did not provide any further details on the attack or damage, but the top private energy company DTEK announced that it had suspended its operations at several gas stations in the Poltava area.

Ukraine, fearing a disruption in domestic gas supplies, has increased gas imports and plans to stockpile 13,2 billion cubic meters of gas at storage facilities by the middle of October. This includes 4.6 bcm imported gas.
