Official: Iran will restore 100 million cubic meters of lost gas production in the coming months

According to the Shana news outlet of the oil ministry, an 'important government official' said that Iran will restore natural gas production to around 100 mcm per day in the next few months.

Since the U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran late in February, attacks on Iran's infrastructure have reduced its energy production by 230 million cubic meters. The recent U.S. airstrikes on southern Iran have not yet hit any major energy sites.

Mohammad Jafar Ghaempanah said that the loss of capacity had exacerbated Iran's.existing gas imbalance. The country's production was.previously at around 650 million cubic metres per day. He said that restoring lost capacity will help to improve the stability of energy supply.

Iran's energy system is under additional strain during the summer heat, when a rise in electricity usage for cooling has led to rolling power outages and shortages affecting households and businesses.

The government said that it is aiming to'manage consumption and increase electricity generation capacity in order to reduce the pressure on the grid, particularly by installing solar energy?capacity.
