Nepal Flood: Nations missing tourists

Tourism officials confirmed on Thursday that 540 foreigners, from 31 different countries, are among 667 tourists who have gone missing in Nepal following a devastating flood which devastated the Himalayan nation and China's Tibet. 260 foreigners were missing from a total 558 in Tibet's Gyirong County, according to a report by state broadcaster CCTV. However, details on nationality weren't immediately available.

Here are the nations that are missing tourists in Nepal

India: The neighbouring country had the most missing persons after the floods, with 288 people still unaccounted for in Nepal, and 200 more stranded on the Chinese mainland, the Indian foreign ministry announced on Thursday.

China: China's Foreign Ministry reported that nearly 100 Chinese nationals are missing in Nepal, in an area hit by massive flooding and mudslides.

UNITED STATES : The Nepal tourism board reported that at least 65 U.S. nationals are missing.

MALAYSIA: The foreign ministry of Malaysia announced on Thursday that at least 55 Malaysian nationals who were reported to the embassy in Kathmandu as missing are not contactable. The Nepal tourism board reported 51 missing people.

UKRAINE: Authorities reported that 53 Ukrainians had been missing during the flooding.

The Nepalese Tourism Board said that 33 British nationals were missing after the disaster.

AUSTRALIA - The Nepal Tourism Board reported that at least 25 Australians were missing following the flood. Penny Wong, Australian Foreign Minister, had said earlier that at least 35 of her citizens who were on pilgrimages or tours in Nepal are missing.

The board reported that 25 Canadians are missing.

The board reported that nine Singaporeans were missing.

SOUTH KOREAN: The South Korean foreign ministry reported on Wednesday that nine South Koreans who were working in a hydropower station were missing, and ten were left stranded.

RUSSIA: Roughly eight Russians are also missing, according to the Nepal tourism board.

The board reported that at least eight Germans are among the missing.

The Nepal Tourism Board said that at least six Latvians were missing.

Authorities in Nepal reported that six South Africans could not be located after Wednesday's flood.

JAPAN Prime Minister Sanae Takayichi announced on X that the Japanese embassy in Nepal had requested a search to find five citizens they were unable to reach.

NEW ZEALAND : According to Nepal, at least five tourists 'from New Zealand' are among the missing.
