Nepal Flood: Nations missing tourists

Tourism officials reported on Thursday that 476 tourists from 29 different countries are among the 570 tourists who have not returned to 'Nepal' after a devastating flood in the Himalayan nation.

State broadcaster CCTV reported that 260 foreigners were'missing' in Tibet's Gyirong County, but the nationality of those missing was not immediately known.

The tourism board of Nepal reported that India, a neighboring country, had the most missing people with 177.

AUSTRALIA - Foreign Minister Penny Wong announced that authorities are working with Nepal to find 34 Australians who have been reported missing.

The Nepal Tourism Board reported that 33 British nationals were missing following the disaster.

The board reported that 25 Canadians are missing.

The board of?said that at least eight Germans are among the missing.

JAPAN Prime Minister Sanae Takayichi announced on X that the Japanese embassy in Nepal had requested a search for five citizens they were unable to reach.

MALAYSIA: According to the Malaysian Foreign Ministry, at least 55 Malaysian nationals who were reported missing by its embassy in Kathmandu have not been contacted. Nepal's tourism bureau put the total number of missing people at 28.

Nepal reported that at least five tourists, all from New Zealand, were among those missing.

The Nepal Tourism Board said that five Russians are among those missing.

The board reported that six Singaporeans were missing.

SOUTH AFRICA - Six South Africans are untraceable following the flood in Nepal on Wednesday.

SOUTH KOREAN: The South Korean foreign ministry reported on Wednesday that nine South Koreans who worked in a hydropower station were missing, and ten were "stranded".

Authorities say 53 Ukrainians are missing after the flood.

UNITED STATES : The Nepal tourism board reported that at least 63 U.S. nationals are missing.
