Minister says massive cyberattack in December on Polish power system failed
The last week in December, Poland's electricity system was hit by its biggest cyberattack for years. It also followed a different pattern.
Milosz Motyka, a reporter, said that the failed attack was meant to disrupt communication between renewable installation and power distribution operators.
Motyka stated that "the command of the cyberspace forces diagnosed the strongest attack on the energy infrastructure in years" during the last days if the year. Since the beginning of the Ukraine war in February '2022, Russia has increased its cyberattacks on Poland's vital infrastructure.
The digital affairs minister of Russia said that Russia's military Intelligence tripled its resources to take such actions against Poland in the last year.
Motyka declined to give details about who was responsible for this attack or the recommendations that were made by the administration after the incident. A significant number of the 170,000 cyber-incidents?that were detected in the first quarters 2025 was attributable to Russian actors.
