Mexico's Pemex refines more and pumps less at home, according to data from October
Data shows that the Mexican state energy company Pemex refined more crude oil at home in October, but pumped less crude oil.
Pemex attributes the continued decline in crude production, currently averaging 1.36 million barrels per day (bpd), down 6% on an annual basis, to a lack of discoveries relevant and the natural decline of key fields.
Olmeca, the refinery located in Dos Bocas port, processed 191,657 barrels per day, helping to boost the refinery's output by 43%. It refined nothing in October of last year.
The data released by Pemex on Tuesday shows that the company produced 1,09 million barrels, an increase of 12.6% compared to last year. The data released on Tuesday showed that 324,992 of these barrels per day are gasoline, 255.626 bpd are diesel and 239,682 bpd are fuel oil.
Gas and these products were among the top sellers in domestic sales, which rose by 9% on an annual basis to 1.3m bpd.
Imports fell by 20%, to 455,263 Bpd.
Crude oil exports increased 18%, to 626.791 barrels a day.
