Volodymyr Zelenskiy, the president of Ukraine, said that Russia had launched an overnight attack on Ukraine targeting infrastructure with more than 300 drones.

He said that the attack was on targets in central Vinnytsia, Poltava, and the northeastern regions of Sumy, Kharkiv, and Kharkiv.

Zelenskiy, on X, said: "Russians are using every day this autumn to attack our energy infrastructure."

As the war enters its fourth year, Russia continues to attack Ukraine's power and energy facilities. Initially, it targeted electricity infrastructure but has this year increased its focus on gas infrastructure.

Sergii Koretskyi is the CEO of Naftogaz. He said that there have been six major attacks this month on gas installations. He said that the latest attacks damaged gas facilities in various regions, and operations were halted in some.

Koretskyi stated that "this directly impacts on the volume of gas production in Ukraine, which we have to cover by imports." GAS FOR THE COLD MONTHS Ukraine, a cash-strapped country, is in discussions with its international allies about raising funds to import additional gas for the cold months of autumn and winter.

The air force reported that 14 missiles, 37 drones and 283 drones were all downed in direct hits overnight.

Ukraine has also cut off power supplies for industrial consumers due to Russian drone strikes.

Kyiv has intensified its own attacks against Russian oil refineries bordering Ukraine and beyond.

Zelenskiy has issued a new appeal for Ukraine to have more long-range capability. He is scheduled to meet with President Donald Trump this Friday, during his visit to the U.S.

He said that "Russian President Vladimir Putin" has become deaf to the words of the world. The only way to reach him is to use pressure.

I'll be talking about that today and tomorrow in Washington.

No comment was made by Moscow about the attacks that occurred overnight in Ukraine. (Written by Olena Hartmash, edited by Andrew Cawthorne).
