Kremlin: intact section of Nord Stream Gas Pipelines could be activated quickly
The Kremlin announced on Friday that the remaining section of the Nord Stream pipelines, which ran from Russia to Germany and were blown up in 2013, could be put back into service quickly.
Dmitry Peskov, Kremlin spokesperson, told reporters that "the remaining line" is available and can be launched immediately.
Nord Stream consists of Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines that run under the Baltic Sea from Germany. After the explosions of 2022, only one of the four pipelines, part of NS2, remained in tact.
In May, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated that preventing Nord Stream 2 from entering operation was part efforts to increase pressure upon Russia to engage in discussions to end the conflict in Ukraine.
Peskov stated that Russia hopes a German-led probe into the explosions will be completed.
A Ukrainian man was arrested last month in Italy under suspicion of being the perpetrator of the attacks that Russia has blamed directly on Kyiv. The blasts have not been attributed to anyone, and Ukraine has denied all involvement.
The explosions of September 26, 2022, described by both Moscow as well as the West as an act sabotage cut off a significant part of Russia's supplies of gas to Europe.
Peskov reiterated on Friday the Kremlin's position that the United States is partially responsible for orchestrating these attacks.
Who, say, has condoned such actions? Peskov stated that it was obvious that such actions by Ukraine and the Kyiv government would not have been possible without the knowledge of (Joe Biden) administration in the U.S.
