Hormuz shipping falls to a one-week low amid hostilities

Shipping 'data' showed that the number of vessels in the Strait of Hormuz fell to an all-time low of eight on Tuesday as owners avoided the waterway due to the ongoing hostilities across the Middle East.

As the prospects for an end to Iran's war appeared?dim,? the United States and Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis both reported separate attacks. Tehran said the strait will remain closed unless Washington accepts its conditions.

The eight vessels that left the Strait on Tuesday were below a 10-day average of 12 and was the lowest daily count since August 5. Kpler data indicated this. One coal carrier was the only vessel to leave the Strait. The rest are still making their journey through.

All seven of the entrants took the Iranian route.

Separate LSEG figures showed that there were 11 transits in the city on Tuesday, compared to 14 the day before.

Since the U.S. and Israeli?attacks started on February 28, approximately 130 to 140'ships' have typically passed through the strait.
