Eni and Repsol are still in talks about Venezuelan gas exports. No deal yet
Italian energy group Eni announced on Monday that it is in talks with Spanish counterpart Repsol and Venezuela's state-owned PDVSA about terms of potentially exporting natural gas from Venezuela's Cardon IV oil field.
A spokesperson for Eni confirmed that talks are underway between Eni and?Repsol regarding the conditions and potential of?gas exports through the Cardon IV Project. However, the deal has not been finalised.
Repsol refused to comment.
Bloomberg News reported on?Monday? that Eni?and Repsol reached an agreement for Venezuela to export natural gas by 2031.
In March, Venezuela announced that it had signed "strategic agreement" with Repsol and Eni on?gas production. Interim President Delcy Rodrguez said at the time the talks were envisioned as a 50-50 joint venture with Eni and Repsol.
Venezuela owes Eni and Repsol more than $7 billion as U.S. sanctions prevented the two European groups from selling products outside the country. (Reporting and writing by Giancarlo Navich, editing by Alvise Armillini)
