FSRU: Morocco Picks Mohammedia for Potential Floating Gas Facility

Morocco has invited bids to perform a study for the upgrade of Mohammedia port near Casablanca to host a liquified natural gas (LNG) floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), the Moroccan ports agency said on Tuesday.The deadline for bids has been set at Jan. 25, the agency said on its website.Energy minister Leila Benali last month said that her department was examining financial and gas supply details for a future FSRU that would guarantee all of Morocco’s gas needs.Algieria ended gas supplies to Morocco on Oct.

Partners to Expand Pakistan LNG Inport Terminal

Excelerate Energy announced it has agreed with partner Engro Elengy Terminal Ltd. (EETL) to expand the EETL liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal in Port Qasim, Pakistan.Under the heads of agreement (HOA), Excelerate will exchange its existing floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) Exquisite with a newbuild FSRU, Hull 2477, which is currently under construction at South Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) shipyard and due to be delivered in April 2020.

Qatargas made its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo delivery (LNG) on a Q-Flex vessel to the Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) named ‘Excellence’ and known as Moheshkali LNG Terminal (MLNG), located offshore Bangladesh.According to a press release from the Qatargas Operating Company, the cargo, aboard Qatargas-chartered ‘Al Thumama’, was loaded at Ras Laffan on 4th September and delivered to MLNG on 20th September 2019. Norway-based floating LNG giant Höegh LNG has signed a time charter contract for a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) Höegh Galleon with Cheniere Marketing International.The time charter commences in September 2019 after the delivery of the unit, Höegh LNG’s tenth, from Samsung Heavy Industries Co., Ltd.The terms of the time charter ensure the Höegh Galleon’s availability to serve the AIE project in Port Kembla, Australia, where Höegh LNG is the FSRU provider on a back-to-back basis.

Uniper Sells Italian LNG Plant Stake

German energy group Uniper has concluded an agreement with Australian fund First State Investments to divest its stake in OLT Offshore liquefied natural gas (LNG) Toscana.First State Investments will acquire Uniper’s entire OLT stake. The purchase price for Uniper’s stake amounts to approx. €400 million ($452 million) and will be adjusted at closing for any distributions already made to Uniper in 2018 and 2019. The resulting net proceeds at a closing later this year are expected to be at a level of approx. €340 million.Uniper has a 48.2% stake in OLT.

FSRU: Bangladesh Terminal Makes First STS Transfer

Bangladesh's 2nd LNG Terminal Begins Operations

Bangladesh has employed its second liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal with the beginning of operations of floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) 'Summit LNG' offshore Moheshkhali Island in the Bay of Bengal.According to Excelerate Energy, the FSRU completed commissioning of the LNG terminal, owned by Summit LNG Terminal, on April 29, 2019. The terminal has a send-out capacity of 500 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscf/d) of natural gas.In August 2017, Summit entered into a 15-year charter agreement with Excelerate for the FSRU Summit LNG.
