EIA: US natgas production and demand will reach record highs by 2026
The U.S. Energy Information Administration said in its "Short-Term Energy Outlook" on Tuesday that the U.S. Natural Gas Supply & Demand will reach'record highs by 2026.
The EIA?projected that dry gas production would rise from a record of 107.7 bcfd per day in 2020 to 111.2 bcfd by 2026, and 115.3 bcfd by 2027.
The agency also predicted that domestic?gas demand will increase from 91.9 bcfd, a record in 2025, to 92.1 bcfd by 2026 and 95 bcfd by 2027.
The EIA forecast for June was 111.0 bcfd, and the July projections were 92.1 bcfd.
The agency predicted that the average U.S. exports of liquefied gas would increase from a record high of 15.1 bcfd to 17.4 bcfd by 2026, and 18.6bcfd by 2027.
The EIA predicted that the U.S. coal output would fall from a high of 528.4 million short tonnes in 2025, to 511.3 millions?tons in 2026, which is the lowest level since 1964, to 492.4 million tons by 2027, which is the lowest level since 1960.
EIA predicted that carbon dioxide emissions would decrease from a high of 4.904 metric tons three years ago to 4.819 metric?tons by 2026, as oil and coal consumption decreased. Then they increased to 4.843 metric tons by 2027 due to an increase in gas usage. (Reporting and Editing by Bill Berkrot.)
