DET assigns Brunsbuettel regasification slot for LNG in 2026
Deutsche Energy Terminal announced on Tuesday that it had auctioned all of the regasification slots offered for the Brunsbuettel LNG terminal for the period January 2, 2019 to May 26, 2019.
The state-appointed operator stated in a press release that "DET has once again made an important contribution to the security of supply in Germany, and Europe."
Since 2022, Europe's imports of Russian pipeline gas have dropped sharply. The European Union has also decided to stop relying on Russian fossil fuels in 2027.
This is the result of a
Growing Role
For seaborne LNG, where the gas is fed to onshore pipeline networks after regasification.
At various coastal locations, floating storage and regasification (FSRU) units were constructed.
DET reported that a total of 58 MMBtu (measure of British thermal units) were allocated successfully in the Brunsbuettel Auction. This is the equivalent of 16 slots with a standard MMBtu size of 3.6 millions, DET said.
The auction, conducted via the digital PRISMA Platform, achieved an average price per MMBtu of 0.66 eurocents.
DET stated that more than 20 shippers registered, along with what they called relatively high prices, showed a strong market interest.
DET said that the remaining slots for 2026 will be likely offered in the first quarter of 2026.
