Data shows that Russian LNG exports rose 11.5% from January to May.
The preliminary LSEG data on Monday showed that Russia's exports grew by?11.5% from January to May compared to a year ago, reaching 14.5 million metric tonnes. This was due to a strengthening of supplies from the Arctic LNG 2 Project.
Total Russian LNG exports jumped by 23% in May compared to a year earlier, reaching 3.12 million tonnes. According to LSEG, this is the highest monthly shipment level since December 2023 when a record export of 3.2?million?tonnes of LNG was recorded.
According to data, Arctic LNG 2 supplied 1.4 million tonnes in the first five months of the year.
Due to U.S. Sanctions over Ukraine, the project began?production' in December 2023. However, it was only able deliver a cargo to Chinese end-buyers last August.
The data also revealed that Russian LNG exports into Europe from January to May increased 16.7% on an annual basis to 7.7 millions tons. In May, the number of tons rose from 1.28 to?1.36 millions.
The EU countries approved the final ban on Russian gas imports in January.
The total exports of Novatek's Yamal Liquefied Natural Gas plant from January to May rose by 1.2% on an annual basis to 8.3 millions tons.
Sakhalin-2 in Asia, which is?controlled? by Gazprom?, has exported 4.7 million tons of goods during the first five months?of the year. This compares to 4.6 millions tons for the same period?last year? (Reporting and Editing by Susan Fenton).
