Croatia's LNG Terminal tests new unit that doubles capacity
The managing director of Croatia's LNG Hrvatska said that the company has begun testing its new floating storage unit and regasification (FSRU), which will double its annual maximum capacity.
Ivan Fugas said that after the terminal tests are completed, its top capacity will go from 3.1 billion cubic metres to 6.1.
He said: "We have increased security of supply to all countries around us. This has not only helped the Republic of Croatia but also the rest of Europe."
Croatia's natural gas consumption in 2025 is estimated at 2.6 billion cubic meters, while domestic production will cover 26%. All of Croatia's imports of gas have come via the Krk Terminal since January. A surplus is re-exported to Hungary, Slovenia and Bosnia. Serbia, which relies heavily on Russian gas imports and wants to diversify their supplies, can purchase LNG via Hungary from the Krk Terminal.
