Bulgaria Nuclear Plant Shuts Reactor After Glitch

Posted by February 6, 2015

Bulgaria's nuclear power plant Kozloduy shut down one of its two 1,000 megawatt units late on Friday after a technical fault but there was no threat of radioactive contamination, the nuclear regulator said.

Marina Nizamska, an official at the Bulgarian Nuclear Regulatory Agency, said the plant was working on establishing what caused the fault in the non-nuclear part of the reactor.

The other unit of the plant, situated on the Danube River on the border with Romania, was working at full capacity.
