Aramco suspends Juaymah LPG Exports After Damage to Butane and Propane Delivery Systems

February 25, 2026

Saudi Aramco has halted exports of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from its Juaymah Terminal in eastern Saudi Arabia after a structurally damaged part of the delivery system that carries propane and butane.

Aramco said that the incident took place on February 23. The company halted LPG deliveries as it activated their emergency response plan. The company said that the propane and butane delivery scheduled for Juaymah in the coming weeks has been cancelled. However, it is still evaluating the impact and scope of the incident.

Aramco reported that no leaks had been reported, and there were no injuries. It added that the West Coast is not affected by LPG shipments.

Sources said that the outage was due to the collapse of a section of the trestle carrying the propane and butane pipes, citing an 'Aramco notice' sent to customers.

The Juaymah Terminal, located near Aramco’s Ras Tanura Refinery and the Jafurah Gas Field, is among the largest exporters in the world of liquefied gases. These include propane and butane.

NitrolTrading, a Dubai-based company, told its clients that the outage hit propane and butane at a bad time, as Saudi exports are crucial for long-term buyers in Japan and Korea.

Kpler shiptracking data showed that the average monthly exports of LPG from Juaymah were about 450,000 tonnes in 2025 and '2024.

Kpler data shows that at least 60% of LPG exported from Juaymah's production facility went to India last year. China received only 15%.

Propane futures on the Far East Index for March surged by nearly 5%, after the Asian'market closed to above $590 a metric ton. LSEG data showed that the price of propane had reached its highest level since April 2025.
