BP announced on Tuesday that its deputy CEO and chief trading officer Carol Howle would retire. This announcement was part of a broader leadership reshuffle, which has already seen a new CEO named and the 'chairman' removed in the past few months.

The company announced that Sam Skerry will replace Howle, who led BP's mergers & acquisitions business from 2022 to 2022.

These changes are a result of the appointment in April of Meg O'Neill, former Woodside Energy CEO as BP Chief Executive after Murray Auchincloss resigned. In May, the board removed Chairman Albert Manifold over governance and conduct issues. He disputes this.

Howle is a 26-year BP vet who was appointed?deputy chief executive in April, after serving as interim 'chief executive. He had been overseeing company portfolio review and development strategy.

Skerry is now in charge of BP's massive trading desk. His?oil team helped boost profits during the BP-Iran conflict.

BP has also announced that 'Sonya Adam, the chief of staff since 2024 will take responsibility for the people and culture functions. (Reporting by Stephanie Kelly. Mark Potter (Editing by Stephanie Kelly)
