Axios says proposed US-Iran deal involves opening strait during 60-day ceasefire extension

Axios, citing an American official, reported that the U.S., and Iran, are close to a deal that would extend a ceasefire for 60 days, which would allow Iran to sell oil freely and negotiate to curb its nuclear program.

Axios reported that during this?60-day time period the Strait of Hormuz will be open without a?toll and Iran will agree to remove the mines they have placed?in the Strait of Hormuz to allow ships to pass freely.

The report said that the U.S., as part the proposed "deal", would lift the blockade of?Iranian port and grant?some waivers on sanctions to allow Iran oil to be sold freely.

Axios reported that the draft agreement includes Iran's commitment to never pursue nuclear weaponry and to negotiate a suspension of their uranium enrichment program, as well as the removal of their stockpiles of highly enriched Uranium.

Two sources tell Axios that Iran verbally?committed to the U.S. about the'scope of concessions' it is willing to make regarding the suspension of enrichment and the giving up?of nuclear material.

The?Axios Report said that the U.S. would also agree to discuss lifting sanctions and unfreezing Iranian money during a 60-day period.

The White House did not respond immediately to the request for comments on the report.
