Eskom Shuts Down Nuclear Unit for Maintenance

South African power firm Eskom shut down on Monday a unit of its Koeberg nuclear plant for scheduled maintenance work, the company said on Tuesday.


"Every 15 to 18 months, each of the two units at Koeberg is shut down for refuelling, inspection and maintenance," Eskom said in a statement, adding that the 930-megawatt unit will be back in operation in May.
